What is the Community Committee?
What is the Community Committee?
We are a Community Committee operating under a written charter aligned with established community norms.
• The Sustainable City is not a RERA- regulated community and does not fall under the standard Dubai Land Department community management model.
• There is no service charge currently paid by residents (and it is likely that residents may not wish to introduce one in the future).
• Accordingly, an owners’ committee or an owners’ management company managing the community is neither applicable nor feasible under the current structure.
• The community is managed by the developer under a sustainable model—earning, managing, and spending on the community, and saving where possible, with any savings potentially reinvested into improvements or new developments.
• The rules in place are based on best working practices feasible within this model. While there is certainly scope for improvement, the system is not ineffective and remains adaptable.
• The developer supports positive practices and values the Community Committee, listens to feedback, and often implements ideas and changes recommended by residents and the CC—even though there is no legal obligation to do so. Ultimately, it is in the developer’s business and reputational interest to manage a community outside the RERA framework while still following best practices and considering CCs and residents’ voices.
• The Community Committee is not a statutory body. We are all volunteers and operate on a cooperative, request-based approach, with close coordination between the community management team and the developer.
• Within this model, it is important to maintain a balanced and constructive approach with community management. We are not a legal entity therefore our role exists largely through mutual understanding and goodwill—granted for the benefit of the community, residents, and the developer alike.
The CC is made up of between 20-25 volunteers across 6 subcommittees.
It also includes a Youth Activation Group (YAG), made up of between 5-15 volunteers between 10 - 18 years old.
The CC meets once a month to discuss agenda items drawn from residents concerns and solutions (the summary of the minutes can be found below). To contribute to the agenda, please complete the Community Forward form.

♻️ RECYCLING UPDATE – Tadweer Visit
Dear neighbours,
Last month, members of the Wellness and Facilities Subcommittee along with our Sustainability Champion visited the Tadweer recycling facility.
We learned that all waste bags are opened and sorted by hand on conveyor belts.
However, correct sorting within our community remains essential as TSC waste is sorted in a different category(because we are awesome and do well with our recycling!) 👏
In fact, thanks to residents’ good practices, we are pleased to confirm that TSC achieves a recycling rate that is significantly higher than many other communities 💪🏼🎉
Recycling guidelines:
Plastic containers, bottles, and cans should be empty
Paper and cardboard should be free of tape
Items do not need to be washed, but must not contain food or liquids
We also learned that bag colour is not critical, as all bags are manually sorted. This may be reviewed in the future to improve clarity and efficiency.
Clearer signage on recycling bins is being considered to make sorting easier.
Further updates and next steps will be shared once confirmed
